So I was working on War Stories again this evening, and Microsoft Word decided to do something silly that I thought I’d share.

As you can see from the screenshot, Word has no idea what mhi vaii slanar at Alderaan means or even if those are all words.  (They are.)  And yet… and yet… it decides that what appears – to its algorithms – to be a totally random string of letters and spaces – is a fragment!

It isn’t a fragment.  It is similar in pernickety grammatical correctness to the English ‘to whom does this belong?’  Random, Word, random.

In other news… y’all can see we’re well over fifty thousand words!  Whoo! A real novel!

When it’s finished – not so long now –  I’m thinking of putting it all together as an e-book, with chapter divisions and cover and all correct.  However… anyone got any ideas what would make a good cover image?

Thanks for reading.

The reason Word thinks it’s a fragment is because you have one (possibly two) words in there that register as real, but do not, on their own, make up a real sentence.
An eBook would be very cool. I’m not sure of a cover image off the top of my head, but if/when I think of one, I’ll let you know.

    • Oh. Blast. But still… it’s Mando’a. Word is being like that bratty kid who doesn’t know anything because he so rarely comes to lectures and, when he does, still calls out questions that were answered by the lecture content yesterday.
I was thinking about maybe doing one like the 1970s Agatha Christie reprints – a collection of seemingly random objects that make sense once you’ve read hte book.

Yes, Word is annoying when you’re writing anything with made-up words of any kind. It’s just a fact of writer-life. 😛
        That would be cool. nods

Where would the ebook be available? (also it should have one of those super edgy-looking crime novel photoshop covers, just to make people wonder what it’s about and is that a blue girl on the cover?)
Also by the way Obi-Wan is always concerned for everyone else but he’s especially concerned for the children okay bye i’ve been up too long I am GOING TO BED goodnight and that’s what I’ve been trying to say all day sigh

    • Iii will have to work out some way of putting a download link on the blog… can’t be too hard, I taught myself HTML just to get purple writing. (Ohhh yes that would be fun. And I just today found out the campus computers have Photoshop! So irrationally excited!)
      Aw. Cuteness overload. G’night.

      • NICE 😀
Actually that’s pretty simple, you can upload Word Documents and such to your media library. I haven’t tried with PDFs, though.
        AWESOME 😀
I got Gimp, still have no control on the mouse. Working on some drawings to upload to computer and color with Gimp that way…
