Requiem: On Returning Home

Ostensibly written by Padawan Jodiit Reay, who escaped Order 66 for three years, on venturing back to the Temple.

Why are these halls smoke-sullied now
That were so white before?
How is it that these graceful rooms
Felt the filthy touch of war?

Who came here, bringing violence
To this sanctu’ry of peace?
And the ghosts that whisper round me:
Will their vigil never cease?

What dark fate brought a bloody sword,
Slew children one by one?
Will justice come, avenge my friends,
Whose corpses scream what was done?

Why are the dead unburied still,
Discarded in the dust?
When did the laughing chatter cease,
And leave unhallowed hush?

Who did this, what fiend shattered peace,
On whom seek I revenge?
The dead rot here, unmourned by all,
The killing sees no end.
